Calling All Refugee Advocates: Share Your Journey

About the Initiative:

Humans in Flight is excited to launch a new initiative in collaboration with Canadian Connections to amplify the voices of refugee advocates across Canada. We believe firsthand accounts of the refugee journey are powerful tools for raising awareness and inspiring change. This project aims to provide a platform for former refugees who have become advocates and activists to share their stories of resilience, courage, and advocacy.

Submission Guidelines:
  • Story Length: Your story should be between 600 to 1200 words.

  • Theme: Focus on the theme of refugee Self-Representation and advocacy.

  • Content: Share your personal experiences of the refugee journey and how you've transitioned into an advocate for refugee rights. Highlight moments of self-representation and your efforts in advocating for your rights and the rights of fellow refugees.

  • Bio and Headshot: Include a brief bio (50-100 words) and a high-resolution headshot of yourself.

  • Deadline: April 30, 2024 

  • Compensation: Selected stories will receive $200.

  • Publication: Your story will be published in Humans in Flight and Canadian Connections: Welcoming Refugees Home and extensively promoted on social media platforms.
